Advisers in Scotland handling adult disability payment appeals will know that it often takes well over a year for the appeal to be heard. Such long delays mean you may be advising about making a new claim and dealing with a closed period at the appeal. It also makes it all the more important to avoid postponements and adjournments that prolong delays. This webinar draws on real cases from our advice line and looks at how to advise when your client’s condition gets worse while waiting for an appeal. It considers how to handle the appeal when there is a closed period (an end date caused by a new decision). It explains how you can avoid further delays by including in your submission detail about when the award should start and stop. It also takes a look at situations that in practice lead tribunals to adjourn or clients to need a postponement.
