These eLearning courses are relevant to Scotland only. Learn about the types of help that are available to families who have low incomes. 

The first course is called 'Children's benefits in Scotland - the basics'. You will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits available to children in Scotland and practice your knowledge. This course will take about 15 minutes to complete.

The second course is called ‘Children’s benefits in Scotland - raising family incomes’. This course includes more information about Social Security Scotland’s 5 family payments as well as help with the costs of school meals and school uniform. It will take about 30 minutes to complete.

For many families, looking after a disabled child involves extra expenses. Child disability payment is a benefit designed to help families meet these extra costs. It has replaced disability living allowance for children in Scotland. Learn about who can get child disability payment, how to claim it and where to get help to claim.

Scottish child payment is a top-up benefit for lower-income families with children under the age of 16. It is intended to help tackle child poverty. Scotland now has it's own social security system. The Scottish government sets the rules for these benefits and has set up Social Security Scotland to deliver them.
